The Paintings of Paul-Henri Bourguignon
Born in Belgium in 1906, Bourguignon began his arts studies in Brussels, Belgium, at the Académie de Bruxelles. His first solo exhibition was at age 22.
He travelled widely and met his wife, Erika Eichhorn (Bourguignon), an anthropologist, in Haiti. They lived in Haiti for 15 months, then in Peru for nearly two years. It was these years that influenced his paintings for the rest of his life.
They settled in Columbus, Ohio, in 1950 after she joined the faculty of The Ohio State University.
